Here's our 3rd post in our little blog series to showcase our wonderful apprentices here at Swallowtail Farm. If you haven't had the pleasure to meet one of our fine 2016 apprentices, this will give you a quick glimpse at who these people are. Today we are featuring our one-and-only apprentice Melissa Muller. Make sure to say Hi to her when you see her at market or at the farm.
Where are you from?
What are you most looking forward to as an apprentice at SF?
I'm extremely excited to learn what it means to farm with biodynamic philosophies integrated into the macro-management of the farm as well as in the every day farm tasks. I also love learning more about the process of taking huge concepts for the farm and breaking them down into short term projects while still maintaining the beauty and magic of the farm itself.
If you could cross-breed two plants on the farm to make a dream food, what would they be?
Arugula and sugar snap peas. The peas would be sweet and spicy and the leaves would be larger and edible!
Tell us something funny or unique about you?
Only recently, I was a lawyer and now I'm a farmer. I'm pretty stoked to be able to say I retired at 30 years old.
